Hi Everyone, my name is Brittany, and the idea of Black History Rocks came to me a few years after I graduated from undergrad. I wanted to cultivate a sacred space where I could share my passion for all things Black history. From an early age, I’ve been passionate about not only learning about Black history but sharing what I have learned with others. And, honestly, there is so much information that has been purposefully excluded from traditional history books. But, because representation matters, it is vital that we learn our full history. It teaches us that there were people before us who were surviving and creating despite the atrocities that we’ve endured. This passion and understanding made getting my Bachelor’s and Master of Arts in African American Studies such an easy choice.
Now that you know a little bit of background on why I created Black History Rocks, here’s a little background about me: I was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. I love spending time with my boys, family, and friends. I’m an avid reader, day-trip seeker, collector of vintage Black historical memorabilia, and an ever-evolving individual.
I hope you find something either on my website or via social media that will spark a flame within you to learn more about Black history.
“If a race has no history, if it has no worthwhile tradition, it becomes a negligible factor in the thought of the world, and it stands in danger of being exterminated.”
